Wondering if anyone can give me some advice regarding picture frames. I had good luck with one frame that was on my wall in my apartment. I uploaded a picture to it, and was able to slide it across the wall to my desired location, great! The second frame was not where I wanted it to be, so I slid it across the wall until it started to disappear, got worried it would disappear forever, so I picked it up into my inventory. It does exist in my inventory, but I can't seem to use it, i.e. put it up on any wall. When I stand in front of a wall and try to use it, it disappears from my inventory momentarily, and then reappears. It never actually is shown in my home. What am I doing wrong?

My second, hopefully related question, relates to fireplaces (not so random, give me a moment). I installed a fireplace on a wall on which I used one of my own textures. The area inside the fireplace (where the fire would be) is showing as my wall texture (which is lavender and fuzzy...not very fire-like). Do I need to install either a picture frame or a board in that area, and then upload a fire animation to the frame or board, or something else altogether?

Thanks!

Hmmm... Lets see if I can be of help and get this right for you.

If you are hanging a picture frame in your home. You right click on the wall and select hang picture. Once you put the frame up. Then you right click the frame and choose select update picture. That should do it.

As far as the fire place. You may want to be sure it isn't too close to the wall in question. Since it seems the wall texture is the one showing. If that doesn't work. Try right clicking it and reseting the texture and see what happens. You should have a fire type picture in there already. However they are not animated. If you want that you would have to build your own fire place or find something that will fit inside it to make it work.

Picture frames (and mirrors) are a special inventory item in that they require that you first choose a wall before placing them. AFAIK, no other item requires you to select a wall before it places itself correctly.

One bug with the pictures occurs if you use the inventory menu to place a picture frame and you haven't selected a wall first (or in the recent past). You either may not be able to place the picture frame (this may have been what happened in your case) or the picture frame may be lost!

To avoid this, I recommend you always use this procedure for placing pictue frames and mirrors:

1. Right click the wall where you want to place the picture frame. The Wall Object menu appears.
2. Click Hang Picture. The Picture Frames browser appears.
3. Select the picture frame (or mirror) you want to place, and then click OK twice to close all the menus.

Good luck and let us know if that clears up your issue.

Thanks,

Thanks for your help, Joshua and Andre! I was able to correct both of the issues.
