Kaneva Citizens please be aware - there are now among us those types of Journalist that Bill O'Reilly constantly talks about with regard to the collapse in media standards.

Much to my dismay I have been ambushed by an English Journalist going by the Kaneva character name ColinToast. Some one has pointed me to an Interview Article in LinuxInsider at http://www.linuxinsider.com/rsstory/61295.html.

AND of course the person didn't tell me I would be quoted in an On-Line News Vehicle -

AND the person didn't do their homework on me -

1) I'm Female not Male,

2) My Highest aspiration isn't owning a "Kaneva club" (I don't need to own a Dance Club) hence very miss leading.

3) ColinToast didn't identify as a Journalist gathering information for a news article.

I assumed the question "I'm still not quite getting Kaneva -- is there a point to it?" was from a simpleton Teenage Boy so I gave a response a simpleton Teenage Boy might want to hear "You just go to clubs, make friends and dance." I have to take responsibility for that mistake. If I had known I was being interviewed I would have given a totally different response. It won't happen again.

So Please be aware your very words are now subject to Michael Moore Style Constructions to the benefit of selling news...

Actually I didn't say anything bad about Kaneva - I thought I was talking to a teenage boy - who's interests always seem rather narrow - so I told him something simple about kaneva - Most teen boys are looking for combat and get frustrated with Kaneva cause they can't kill anyone or thing or run amok and cause havoc. If the individual had identified himself as a journalist writing an article I would have given him the grand tour and talked about all the wonderful changes that have occured over the last year.

As I said I didn't say anything BAD - My words were edited into a typical Michael Moore construction of a context and it seemed bad in the context.

sigh... The point is we now have folks from the media with collapsed standards (According to Bill O'Reilly) in Kaneva hunting for negative things to construct stories that will sell.... Starrynite seems to be the only Journalist that writes positive stories about Kaneva and its CyberCitizens.

Dang!! Thanks Books for the heads up!! Starry's a total sweetheart! Love talking to her...she's a journalist?? Does that girl do everything??!!!
As for what happened..totally hear ya Books! You give answers taking into consideration who you're talking to!! Usually the boys I talk to have something else on the minds though instead of killing but yeah very narrow field there!
Don't yell at me!! I didn't say what they were thinking about did I?
Sucks too cause u know me and my mouth! I should always be where Pass is needed that would help me out a lot!
Have a good day Books and again Thanks girl! Always covering on backs! Gotta head off and make money to buy that big club!!lmao!! Actually I need to finish off my Mardis Gras float and there's The Domain...really need to get more restraints in there before Valentine's rush...laters and hugs* ;)

PS OK Corelli u do know this was tongue in cheek rite??lmao MMM tongue in cheek...wonder if I could do a room with that theme??

Okay? Now that is a little ofensive to a 19yr old guy like me as it is a rather bad generalization… I mean just because there are one or two that are a little crazy, doesn’t mean all are :P, it’s the same as if I had to say, middle aged women are fatter then teen girls (which I believe would be false… cause although most woman weight a bit more when they get older, there are some that actually loose weight as they get older)

Anyway… just conveying a point not to judge a book by its cover (or age)

This is a classic case of bad journalism probably caused by no or poor scholastic training in the field and as presented to a person with experience on the subject matter, the story is more full of holes than "Swiss Cheese".

It is totally out of journalism professionalism to quote someone without asking "can I quote that" especially when the unannounced interview was conducted by a person not identified as a journalist in anothers' home.

Quoting Rob Waugh "My first host" seemed hostile, and his American footballer-esque avatar came over and said: "Who R U?"........ This is a social platform, of course we are going to ask who we are talking to..... "Hostile"......????????

Quoting Rob Waugh, ""I'm still not quite getting Kaneva -- is there a point to it?", he's absolutely correct, and not just Kaneva, he has no clue how to be a professional journalist or writer and no credibility. He can't even get gender issue correct.

I would tell Rob Waugh to go back to writing for his High School newspaper, there's an awful lot he missed when he was there last.

I realized - I probably would offend you when I wrote the above - and the other teenage boy on Kaneva that act cultured and civilized. BUT you have to consider my experiences with Teenage Boys on Kaneva - I am currently approached at least once a week by some teenage boy that insists I be his girl friend and when I tell him - Thank you NO!... I'm called GAY and then they think they can act out in my apt. They get kicked and blocked immediately.

I offend you once - I'm offended at least once a week. Mathematically the probability of me offending you is less than 0.1 (or 10%) - The probability that the next noob teenage boy to appear in my apt and will offend me is about 0.99 (or 99%). Hence my ease in assuming the individual was just another out of control teenage boy. Why do you think the PASS was invented?

Last March or April when kaneva switched from Closed Beta to Open Beta the rate of offending teenage boys was about 1 per day. My kick and block list got up to 10 pages long. My own teenage boys are offensive - its really hard as a parent these days to teach your children to be cultured and civilized. My sons are outstanding combat gamers and can not stand Kaneva cause there isn't a way to crush people.

Sigh... I hate to say this BUT you probably won't recognize and understand this phenomenon for what it is - until you have your own teenage children.

Sorry that you were ambushed, 9; that is always a possibility in RL and even more so in WOK. Can't say that anyone would have given a better off-the-cuff answer as to what one does in WOK--ya gotta dance to play.... As to misidentifying your gender, he was obviously more intent on noting your name than observing your avatar, or was unaware, that, unlike Second Life, genderbending in WOK requires more than flipping a switch.

As for the continual harassment by teenage boys, I think there's a real need to create a playpen for the immature for your comfort and their protection--I've heard a few credible tales of marauding WOK cougars....
